J.J. Watt?
What the hell happened to # in the Monday Night # # game @Fantasy Sports Discussion ? I couldn't see that game cause I'm too cheap for # but I just imagined him shadowing a referee trying to not be part of the action.

He was supposed to pull in 14 points and he gave me ZERO!!! #?! I got blown out on the first matchup of the season and I'm the # Commissioner!

Merriam-Webster's twitter account throws shade at US POTUS
This tweet is pretty funny. It's following #Trump's #Sharpie-gate. #FunFact altering #NOAA weather information is a federal crime.

The link to the tweet is M-W restoring #funny & archaic words to identify people in unflattering ways. #Mumpsimus was highlighted in the tweet (and it prompted #Trumpsimus), but that tweet links to a great list of fun words.

The Economics of Sports Gambling (Ep. 388)
This is so "nail-on-the-head" for @Fantasy Sports Discussion because it's touching on some of the best parts of # # in general despite being specifically about #.

Early in the #, they discuss the # type draft for a #Rotisserie #League.
GETHERS: So you put any sum of money that works — in the league I play in, the initial input is $260, and you have to put together a team roster, the same way the Yankees or the Mets or the Dodgers or the Kansas City Royals do, within a budget of $260. In my league, we do it by auction. So if you bid $8 for a player you then have $252 to pay for the rest of your players. And what the player you own does every day, that goes into your stat sheet and it’s cumulative. And at the end of the year, the team with the best statistics wins the pennant.
That's great # and # and # in general! Somebody overpays for the best player in the first pick and that means he will be thin on money for the rest of the talent. One injury on their top player and they lose the season. Being too cheap though isn't a good strategy because you'll almost guarantee that you'll have the lowest scores. Everybody is forced to play toward the middle a bit. The outcomes are very hard to predict! Therein lies the #

Bret "bedbugs" Stephens is making the news...
Okay, I fully understand #Twitter is an antithesis to #Federated social networks, but this is special.

This morning I did not know who Bret Stephens (NYT) was. I knew of his work as caustic but didn't even attach a name to it before and barely remembered the #Newspaper it was published through.

Yesterday he got some "comeuppance" and it was delightful. I lost an hour this morning just hitting the heart button ❤️ on replies to his initial tweet attached below.

#BretBug, a #FreeSpeech #Troll apparently tries to chill the free speech of people who don't hold him in high regard. He was fine with his claim that Christine Blasey Ford made up the #SexualAssault that Brett Kavanaugh perpetrated during the public trial which encouraged death threats against her, but when somebody in defacto privacy calls him a name, he's on it like stink on shit.

Since last night "BretBug" has deleted his Twitter account. Because of that, many of the reshared tweets demonstrating his hypocrisy are "Tweet Unavailable". If you read the threads long enough, you'll find screen captures posted which clarify the missing content.

As of now, he's starting to be reported on by the regular news but not in a way that he wants to:

Arctic News: The changing face of planet Earth

Image/Photo
The inhabitants of planet Earth are in the process of destroying the habitability of their world through the perpetration of the largest mass extinction of species since 66 million years ago, when a large asteroid impacted Earth, and 55 million years since the Paleocene-Eocene Thermal Maximum (PETM) reaching 5–8°C. The late Holocene-Anthropocene climate change represents an unprecedented event, triggering a fast shift in climate zones and a series of extreme weather events, with consequences for much of nature and civilization. The changes are manifest where green forests are blackened by fire, droughts are turning grassy planes to brown semi-deserts, brilliant white snow and ice caps are melting into pale blue water and clear blue skies turn grey due to aerosols and jet contrails, most particularly in the northern hemisphere. Unless effective efforts are undertaken at CO₂ drawdown, the consequence would include demise of much of nature and a collapse of human civilization.

My Platonic Romance On The Psych Ward
If you've never heard a #ModernLove #Podcast before, their #wierd, #funny, #endearing, and #aspirational. A famous person reads the story of the subjects, then later the host of the show does a tiny interview with the subject(s) of the story. This one I found exceptional. It wanders through #MentalHealth, happenstance and true enduring #love for a couple who were really in need of it. They met in a #PsychWard!!!

A systemic societal mistake prevalent in America
I'm not sure this is true throughout the world or just in pockets of society, but I know it's widespread. Here's the gist; #Girl does something nice to #Boy, boy falls madly in love with girl, girl finds it objectively #Creepy, girl treats boy badly, boy is very confused.

I assume that the source of the problem is the affectionless treatment of boys by relatives and guardians. It doesn't have to be abuse, but the #Spartan attitude of #Toughness in much of our society causes one important part of the child's life to be so empty that when a drop hits the bottom of that empty vessel it electrifies a need to get more that is overwhelming to people unprepared to fill that need.

It doesn't have to be mutually exclusive that a child learns toughness or receives ample #Affection in their life. They can easily get both. Children raised with the old, "don't coddle your child it will weaken them," delusion are raising children who won't fit into social settings well.

I wonder if the average #Utah #Mormon is immune to this problem because they are notoriously nice to each other within their familial group and #Religion.

well, this Mormon thinks it's at least possible that this is the case, but, I think in reality, Mormons are only slightly less immune to societal misnomers than other groups.

But overall, it's definitely something to think about - how we treat boys. thanks.

I Tried Hiding From Silicon Valley in a Pile of Privacy Gadgets

This is a fun romp about how #Surveillance #Capitalism has become as #Omnipresent as the magnetic field of the Sun.

David
I use Google, Facebook, Amazon, Lyft, Uber, Netflix, Hulu, and Spotify. I have two Amazon Echos, a Google Home, an iPhone, a MacBook Air, a Nest thermostat, a Fitbit, and a Roku. I shared the secrets of my genetic makeup by spitting in one vial for 23andMe, another for an ancestry site affiliated with National Geographic, and a third to test my athletic potential.
You're an idiot.
David
Audio just finished playing.

The guy's mistake was to buy more gadgets. He makes privacy seem like a lot of work, and something that you have to buy.
  • Replace the full-fledged trackers with 2 flip phones: one always on and always at home, and the other carried whenever leaving home, but only powered on in emergencies. Plan for both phones includes 0 data. This will be much less expensive than buying and using one full-fledged tracker that runs Google or Apple software.
  • Get cash from an ATM every 6 weeks or so, and spend cash for everything. People are happy to take your cash.
  • Run an easy-to-use Linux-based OS on your computer, like Mint. Use only this to connect to the Internet. Set up once, and forget about it.
  • Use Ice Cat or Pale Moon as your web browser. Install all the privacy add-ons we all use, like NoScript, uBlock Origin, etc. Set up once, and forget about it.
  • Use Tutanota or ProtonMail for email. Set up once, and forget about it.
  • Download and use the Tor Browser for email and other such accounts. Set up once, and forget about it.
  • Use random usernames and passwords, and let your computer remember them. Never use the same username or password for more than one account. Never use your name as part of a username. Set up once, and forget about it.
  • Don't get accounts with anyone who demands your name or other personal information. Asking for an email address is OK because you can give a different one for every account. Set up once, and forget about it.
  • Use Mullvad as your VPN. They neither need nor want your name or email address. This is the only item in this list that actually costs money. You can pay for a whole year at a time, or even multiple years. You can actually mail cash to them, with a note that has your account number. This is very discouraged by postal authorities.
  • Save a huge amount of money by not buying any gadgets that use any software made by Google, Amazon, Facebook, Microsoft, or Apple.
  • Save even more money by not buying anything that can connect to the Internet, except your computer running Mint.
Your bank and the DMV will know where you live, but no one else needs to. Your friends will have your phone number, but no one else needs to.

This how I live. I have much privacy and spend much less money than most people.

Yes #WTF! The #Trump has decided to eliminate the #Right to #Privacy in the #USA. I can see the short-sightedness of his base of support being in favor of this because they think if it happens they will be in power forever.

State v. Keith Davis, Jr. – Episode 11 - Reasonable Doubt
This episode of Undisclosed reveals amazing #Corruption in the #UnitedStates #Justice #System. The #Baltimore PD plant evidence, defraud forensic evidence and lie in open court about the fraudulent evidence. To harken back to the O. J. Simpson trial, I knew he was guilty but was happy with the verdict because the evidence they had was insufficient to convict within a healthy justice system.

In this episode of the #Undisclosed #Podcast, you'll see that the police don't need evidence to convict poor people.

YANSS 157 – The psychology behind why people don’t speak out against, and even defend, norms they secretly despise
This is an amazing #Podcast about how and why we get stuck in #GroupThink. Theirs a new buzz going around about #FreeSpeech but from the point of view of, "you're #Censoring me!" This podcast is focused on the, "why am I censoring me?" We are doing it because we don't realize that a majority of us think contrary to the incorrect conventional wisdom of the day, but we fear speaking out because we don't have evidence to support our silent dissenting thoughts are in the majority view, especially not within whatever our current social group is. People who might agree with you in private can't risk defiance of the group's thinking in public, so they will not be an ally. This makes us in aggregate doomed to stick with terrible ideas till enough catastrophy happens to the established leaders and the spell gets broken.
