I've been excited about this topic since that Ubuntu Edge first had its go at crowdfunding.
I turned a retired Nexus 5x into a UBPorts phone successfully. I used it experimentally without a SIM for about 2 years. Then somewhere along the line, I bricked it while trying to start over from scratch.
I'd love to try things like that again with non-bricked older equipment.
