A nagging thought I have about a trivial but very important matter
#Conversations and the #Attractiveness of the person you want to converse with have an awkward social legacy.

Regardless of what is about to follow, I am not saying that #Men have it easy while I'm simultaneously explicitly explaining why I think #Women have it difficult. This is a very #nuanced topic and I want to concentrate on what I see as #problems women have in #society that seem to definitely restrict their free will as no fault of their own.

Theirs a person I know #IRL and she has a very #attractive look about her, a #voluptuous body, #happy playful demeanor, big hair, a #pretty face, and still very #youthful. If it's not obvious, I'm an older dude way past my prime and not anything special to be around. I think the #sex roles could be reversed and most of this would still make sense with different intensities and risks/rewards. I personally know her in a very casual sense because of being in the same social circles. One of them is an annual #Halloween party open to the public. She would often show up in a common #Police #Costume or equivalent. At first glance, one might scoff at the use of #seductive looks to gain attention. Then I saw the kind of attention she got and it wasn't what she wanted or what she needed. Sure she looked good, but I couldn't help think #society kind of took away her #freedom of #choice. Her situation was as a young #SingleMother #struggling to provide for her #kids. The "loose-ends" of society rushed to her at the event trying to have what they saw, like they were looking at a commodity they could buy instead of a person desperately doing what they had to, to try for a better life. The most recent year changed how I saw her. She didn't change costumes, but she did bring her #retarded and partially #disabled uncle to the #party. The inner beauty that a person has to do that type of thing is wonderful! For the first time, she got a #smile from me instead of a #PokerFace. Her smile back seemed to #telepathically say back, "Thanks for seeing me."

She and I have never actually spoken to each other. I see her in other places and we have the occasional glance at each other that conveys, I know you are a good person. I'm pretty sure I can't talk to her because the #society around us would see a #pretty young person and a #married old guy talking and think shitty thoughts. That's something society is doing very wrong. I understand why though. Theirs a lot of people with #clandestine intentions driven by their innate desire to #procreate, and normally people are in #DumbMode when that switch is turned on. It makes me sad though that wholesome conversation can't be had between people because of what assuming people will think and later say in private to others for their own erroneous #SelfRighteous #excitement.

The same predicament holds if she was not what most of society deems as #attractive. I believe any combination could have an awful assumption put onto the scenario. Ugly girls put out and that's why he's talking to her. A young guy? He must be a child molester. An old person? He's probably trying to rob them. Poor people? He's buying drugs. Rich people? Sell out! Power to the people! Co-worker? #Sexual #harassment. (I know that's wrong because it's supposed to have a power dynamic first.) Manager to a subordinate? Definitely #Sexual#arassment.

It's been quite a number of decades that the nightly news has reinforced that the #appearance of #impropriety is enough to #convict in the court of #public #opinion. This also forces-out the ability to deliver #compassion and #understanding to a #stranger. One time I heard a guy talking about the way the #CIA or some #Law #Enforcement organization will #invade #privacy enough to get a #conviction, but if they invaded it even more, the #understanding that would come out would #exonerate them. #Voyeuristic people that see something now and report their #erroneous #assumptions to their friends later are not invading privacy enough. Partly the way our society works they have little #free #will either in their subsequent actions. They are dealing with decisions under risk. Revealing that they suspect something would cause a #fictitious #alibi to be formed if they were right, so they can't invade the privacy further. The 'better safe than sorry' rule forces them to #report the potential #transgression. Because that move would be assumed by anybody with more wisdom than a person in a sheltered existence, it takes away the #FreeWill of the person who might have acted in a way that showed an appearance of impropriety. Therein we have a classic "Mexican-Standoff". (I'm not sure why it's Mexican.) That's something society is doing very wrong.

I want to go back to the microcosm of good old whats-her-name, the attractive girl at the start of this long #MicroBlog. This failure of life outlined by game theory affects her more than me. She can't just start a conversation with any guy at random, because it's highly likely they will either think they are so #amazing that this #HotChick is coming to them, or they are so #damaged #emotionally from their past experiences that they assume something really bad is going to happen soon because their's no way an attractive person wants to have a #normal #conversation with them. Sure that's a false dichotomy, but I was talking about the most likely possibilities instead of the only #possibilities. Chances are close to zero that she can just have a person-to-person #wholesome #conversation with somebody at random and they don't think something untrue about why it's happening. That sounds fucking lonely. I'm guessing society, in general, thinks the attractive's have an easy life (because less than 1% of then are the only people that get to be in the media or a performer on stage or screen...). Sure maybe some things in life are easier. Like maybe it's easier to get free drinks at a bar, but isn't that like it being easier for a fish to get a free worm on a hook? Those drinks aren't charity, they are a hedge to bet they will obtain something they want in the future. That's something society is doing very wrong.

Too many people (men & women) in my #opinion think women have it easy. I didn't just say men have it easy! What I did imply was that it's #complicated and trouble is #trouble even if it's in a different form. Both #men & #women have their own unique #injustices they have to #suffer through. I'm #focusing on #women's #problems right now so #MRA #dudes and #dudettes can back the hell off; I've tasted your #RedPill so don't try making an #enemy of me here. Here's a recent #Podcast I heard which laid out the case for how women were #objectively #discriminated against since we were able to transmit sound electronically.

We built #electronics that #worked #wrong to the #benefit of men's #voices and acted like their's nothing we could have done about it. That's something society is doing very wrong.

If you haven't read the Tina Fey book titled Bossypants, you are missing out. Although I didn't read it, I listened to it for free using my Libby app connected to my public library. Tina reads it and unlike a lot of people who #voice their own #books, her inflection, timing, emphasis and so on is impeccable. Their's so much laugh-out-loud content that I don't know who wouldn't like it. I'm going to quote a few excerpts from it that are pertinent to this #MacroBlog entry.

Body Image

“But I think the first real change in women’s body image came when JLo turned it butt-style. That was the first time that having a large-scale situation in the back was part of mainstream American beauty. Girls wanted butts now. Men were free to admit that they had always enjoyed them. And then, what felt like moments later, boom—Beyoncé brought the leg meat. A back porch and thick muscular legs were now widely admired. And from that day forward, women embraced their diversity and realized that all shapes and sizes are beautiful. Ah ha ha. No. I’m totally messing with you. All Beyonce and JLo have done is add to the laundry list of attributes women must have to qualify as beautiful. Now every girl is expected to have Caucasian blue eyes, full Spanish lips, a classic button nose, hairless Asian skin with a California tan, a Jamaican dance hall ass, long Swedish legs, small Japanese feet, the abs of a lesbian gym owner, the hips of a nine-year-old boy, the arms of Michelle Obama, and doll tits. The person closest to actually achieving this look is Kim Kardashian, who, as we know, was made by Russian scientists to sabotage our athletes.”
― Tina Fey, Bossypants

Women's Defects

This was how I found out that there are an infinite number of things that can be ‘incorrect’ on a woman’s body.
― Tina Fey, Bossypants
After which she starts listing common things that in our society are like water to the fish; eyebrows too thick, eyebrows too thin, eyebrows too round, eyebrows too angular... The list seemed infinite and she barely left the upper part of the head. #WTF!!!

It's what you don't have...

Now if you’re not "hot," you are expected to work on it until you are. It’s like when you renovate a house and you’re legally required to leave just one of the original walls standing. If you don’t have a good body, you’d better starve the body you have down to a neutral shape, then bolt on some breast implants, replace your teeth, dye your skin orange, inject your lips, sew on some hair and call yourself the Playmate of the Year.
― Tina Fey, Bossypants

That's something society is doing very wrong.

I think as a world of humans we need to collectively start taking back our #FreeWill and taking chances, and instead of avoiding things with a potential upside, we go in ready to shut-down the beginnings of a potential downside. Too much of our #Culture is dictated by what #Artists & #Writers produce as their work and they produce that because that's what we are doing in society. That's not #creativity, that's a #feedback #loop! We're going to blow our amplifier! The #creative people in this world need to stop serving up #commercial #garbage and begin writing things that #struggle with finding acts of free-will, and objectively #ethical good acts.

Too much of our #Culture is dictated by what #Artists & #Writers
By advertisers and media, I would say. Moreover, you say it yourself too:
The #creative people in this world need to stop serving up #commercial #garbage and begin writing things that #struggle with finding acts of free-will, and objectively #ethical good acts.

That’s not #creativity, that’s a #feedback #loop!
I concur, but I beg you not to blame artists. Let's point the finger to who are really responsible for this.
Digit
2002 i basically enslaved myself to make a tv advert to break into the profitable industry or something, idk, i hadnt really thought it through. while i worked on it, i watched a bill hicks video over and over again, including the bit about "if there's anybody here who works in advertising or marketing... kill yourselves".
glad for that artist saying that. that was effectively the last time i "worked in advertising or marketing".
spent the past couple decades on audio art with no commercial viability, among other laudable uses of my creative aptitudes. n that feels a LOT better than making a tv advert unwittingly chasing being a slave-cog to commercial structural violence.

Fucking Ring Doorbells
So, the Mozilla Foundation has a thing where they review the ethical quality of a good or service, "*privacy not included", and the #Amazon #Ring #Doorbell made their #ShitList. Apparently people are paying between $100 & $500 USD to have their homes "protected" by the Police through Amazon's #SurveillanceCapitalism AI.

I believe the main thing they don't know they are doing is that they are giving hackers easy access to clandestinely "case my house" to find out when it would be best to come in and rob me. Their doorbells are pointing at my house, not theirs. Their doorbells may never see their own movements, but they will broadcast everybody else's. It makes me wonder if there's a way to walk past and, with a specialized electronic device, cause them to be #Bricked. I think whacking them with a hammer might be illegal, and don't think it would survive a Supreme Court challenge.

That last paragraph sounds far-fetched unless you read the Mozilla write-up (linked below) on this flawed product. Recall, Amazon doesn't make surveillance products to benefit you, they make them to benefit Amazon.

And don't expect the Cops who are keeping all the footage to not post a viral video of you stumbling up the front steps spilling two armloads of groceries onto the porch. They can and will do that. Think I'm wrong? How about the show Cops, or Live PD. Think those shows are real? Try listening to the Running From Cops #Podcast and see how maliciously manufactured they are.

And just :facepalm royally with this one:
Ring states that it does not use facial recognition technology. However, it has hired a "head of facial recognition research" at Ring Ukraine, so it may have plans to in the future.

Bricked a Nexus 7 Gen II LTE, (help)
I might be shouting into the void here, but...

I tried to put #KDE #Plasma #Mobile on my old #Nexus7 a few days or more ago. It didn't go well and I posted to their GitHub about it.

Two days ago I tried putting #UBports onto it. It appears that the way I was able to run fastboot format cache and fastboot format userdata on a #Windows10 machine but not on a #Ubuntu18 #Workstation seems to have made that device impervious to the UBports super easy installer.

It worked great on my old #Nexus5 so I'm at a loss as to how I can proceed. Maybe the 7 is damaged internally? I tried the #UBportsInstaller with and without the wipe checkbox checked, as well as with and without the paths to the adb & fastboot executables.

Stressed women are more likely to give birth to a girl, study finds
If you're looking for a #Upbeat #Happy #News #Story to talk about at the water cooler, this #Interesting #Podcast might just do the trick.

They have #Statistics to show the #Correlation, they have #Hypothesis to connect plausible & likely functional relationships between the cause and the effect. As a parent, I've heard a lot of things over the years claiming to adjust the likelihood of a child's gender through food or other silliness, but this is the first one I heard that made sense. I could be wrong, but it seems that—for example—if prospective #dads want #sons they should go to great lengths to not be an #Asshole and to woo their partner. If #parents want #daughters, they will have to try to walk that dangerous tightrope of #stress that could lead to failed attempts to #conceive.

Hey, @Lisa Stranger I think you might like this podcaster. Well, I'd toss a coin to guess if you'd like this particular episode. She throws up things she knows to call bullshit on the current case being used for impeachment, and doesn't have a nice thing to say about anybody in politics at the moment.
The creator, Jen Briney, is a really good person and as far as I can tell is unbiased. Typically, the show is mostly her reading congressional bills and then reporting on what they mean to the general population.

Screaming Into The Void: How Outrage Is Hijacking Our Culture, And Our Minds
[He said knowingly with a smug sense of #Outrage and #Righteous #Indignation.] The gist of this episode is that we have #Evolutionary reward systems to be outraged at a person's reprehensible actions, but that sub-system was developed with small groupings of humanoids in face-to-face interactions, not #Electronic #SocialMedia.

There are lots of things to say about this episode of the #HiddenBrain #Podcast, and I'll start with my own personal worry that I'm part of the problem. I feel like I'm posting important content that is worth people's time to think about and I'm convinced that it will lead to a better world, but...

I also have this #Hypothesis that EVERYBODY thinks they are doing the right thing for the right reasons at all times. If I scrutinize the state of affairs at the times in my past when I made regrettable mistakes, I could see how I was mistakenly doing wrong while thinking I was the hero doing the right thing, AND making the world a better or safer place! If I give a #Deplorable person's actions a charitable review, I can see how they are misguided and thought they were doing the right thing and were making the world a better place despite doing the opposite with their actions.

It seems like open-minded #Discourse with people who are #Disagreeable to your position (as opposed to you personally), is a great way to find out when your favorite idea isn't built on solid ground.

If you think you are an #Influencer somewhere on the #SurveillanceCapitalism #SocialMedia or on a #Federated system, I urge you to listen to this short and powerful podcast and reflect on yourself with unbiased scrutiny to see if you are part of the problem or part of the solution.

Bret "bedbugs" Stephens is making the news...
Okay, I fully understand #Twitter is an antithesis to #Federated social networks, but this is special.

This morning I did not know who Bret Stephens (NYT) was. I knew of his work as caustic but didn't even attach a name to it before and barely remembered the #Newspaper it was published through.

Yesterday he got some "comeuppance" and it was delightful. I lost an hour this morning just hitting the heart button ❤️ on replies to his initial tweet attached below.

#BretBug, a #FreeSpeech #Troll apparently tries to chill the free speech of people who don't hold him in high regard. He was fine with his claim that Christine Blasey Ford made up the #SexualAssault that Brett Kavanaugh perpetrated during the public trial which encouraged death threats against her, but when somebody in defacto privacy calls him a name, he's on it like stink on shit.

Since last night "BretBug" has deleted his Twitter account. Because of that, many of the reshared tweets demonstrating his hypocrisy are "Tweet Unavailable". If you read the threads long enough, you'll find screen captures posted which clarify the missing content.

As of now, he's starting to be reported on by the regular news but not in a way that he wants to:

Arctic News: The changing face of planet Earth

Image/photo
The inhabitants of planet Earth are in the process of destroying the habitability of their world through the perpetration of the largest mass extinction of species since 66 million years ago, when a large asteroid impacted Earth, and 55 million years since the Paleocene-Eocene Thermal Maximum (PETM) reaching 5–8°C. The late Holocene-Anthropocene climate change represents an unprecedented event, triggering a fast shift in climate zones and a series of extreme weather events, with consequences for much of nature and civilization. The changes are manifest where green forests are blackened by fire, droughts are turning grassy planes to brown semi-deserts, brilliant white snow and ice caps are melting into pale blue water and clear blue skies turn grey due to aerosols and jet contrails, most particularly in the northern hemisphere. Unless effective efforts are undertaken at CO₂ drawdown, the consequence would include demise of much of nature and a collapse of human civilization.

A systemic societal mistake prevalent in America
I'm not sure this is true throughout the world or just in pockets of society, but I know it's widespread. Here's the gist; #Girl does something nice to #Boy, boy falls madly in love with girl, girl finds it objectively #Creepy, girl treats boy badly, boy is very confused.

I assume that the source of the problem is the affectionless treatment of boys by relatives and guardians. It doesn't have to be abuse, but the #Spartan attitude of #Toughness in much of our society causes one important part of the child's life to be so empty that when a drop hits the bottom of that empty vessel it electrifies a need to get more that is overwhelming to people unprepared to fill that need.

It doesn't have to be mutually exclusive that a child learns toughness or receives ample #Affection in their life. They can easily get both. Children raised with the old, "don't coddle your child it will weaken them," delusion are raising children who won't fit into social settings well.

I wonder if the average #Utah #Mormon is immune to this problem because they are notoriously nice to each other within their familial group and #Religion.

well, this Mormon thinks it's at least possible that this is the case, but, I think in reality, Mormons are only slightly less immune to societal misnomers than other groups.

I Tried Hiding From Silicon Valley in a Pile of Privacy Gadgets

This is a fun romp about how #Surveillance #Capitalism has become as #Omnipresent as the magnetic field of the Sun.

I use Google, Facebook, Amazon, Lyft, Uber, Netflix, Hulu, and Spotify. I have two Amazon Echos, a Google Home, an iPhone, a MacBook Air, a Nest thermostat, a Fitbit, and a Roku. I shared the secrets of my genetic makeup by spitting in one vial for 23andMe, another for an ancestry site affiliated with National Geographic, and a third to test my athletic potential.
You're an idiot.
David
Audio just finished playing.

The guy's mistake was to buy more gadgets. He makes privacy seem like a lot of work, and something that you have to buy.
  • Replace the full-fledged trackers with 2 flip phones: one always on and always at home, and the other carried whenever leaving home, but only powered on in emergencies. Plan for both phones includes 0 data. This will be much less expensive than buying and using one full-fledged tracker that runs Google or Apple software.
  • Get cash from an ATM every 6 weeks or so, and spend cash for everything. People are happy to take your cash.
  • Run an easy-to-use Linux-based OS on your computer, like Mint. Use only this to connect to the Internet. Set up once, and forget about it.
  • Use Ice Cat or Pale Moon as your web browser. Install all the privacy add-ons we all use, like NoScript, uBlock Origin, etc. Set up once, and forget about it.
  • Use Tutanota or ProtonMail for email. Set up once, and forget about it.
  • Download and use the Tor Browser for email and other such accounts. Set up once, and forget about it.
  • Use random usernames and passwords, and let your computer remember them. Never use the same username or password for more than one account. Never use your name as part of a username. Set up once, and forget about it.
  • Don't get accounts with anyone who demands your name or other personal information. Asking for an email address is OK because you can give a different one for every account. Set up once, and forget about it.
  • Use Mullvad as your VPN. They neither need nor want your name or email address. This is the only item in this list that actually costs money. You can pay for a whole year at a time, or even multiple years. You can actually mail cash to them, with a note that has your account number. This is very discouraged by postal authorities.
  • Save a huge amount of money by not buying any gadgets that use any software made by Google, Amazon, Facebook, Microsoft, or Apple.
  • Save even more money by not buying anything that can connect to the Internet, except your computer running Mint.
Your bank and the DMV will know where you live, but no one else needs to. Your friends will have your phone number, but no one else needs to.

This how I live. I have much privacy and spend much less money than most people.

Due to Internet wander and loss of personal control over focus, I bumped into something I thought should get posted on the @Forum|G Plus Minus forum. (aside: Just a couple weeks ago I found out the difference between the @ the ! and posting directly on a Forum page.)

That thing I found is the Federated Socialhome system. As I was looking at a few of their instances I noticed how it had a g+ look and feel to it. It's also got a bit of a #Pintrest way about it too. It's a tiles approach to visually organizing posted content. It's described as a solution to a personal home page with the benefits of federation features. Sites have streams for public and private, and it appears that a given user has a Pinned Content view as well as an All Content view. As of now their's only these four instances:

false equivalents
This is a brilliant video. It gets at the core of so many of today's problems with #Relationships, competing group dynamics, #Religious intolerance, and so many more societal maladies. You can see it fit nicely onto #HateGroups from ordinary #Bigots all the way to #MassMurderers by #NeoNazis or other #WhiteSupremicy groups.

The Family - Netflix
Well, this is gonna be a hoot for #Atheists to watch on #Netflix or, however you can steal it. It looks so much like a #Conspiracy #Theory type story that my "Spidey-Sense" is tingling. I can't wait to watch it, but I feel like I'm going to have to be so much more skeptical about it than I am about #Religions.

#TheFamily

An enigmatic #conservative #Christian group known as the #Family wields enormous influence in Washington, D.C., in pursuit of its global ambitions.

Just listening to this #Podcast from 2016, you know, from before #Trump was unleashed on the world with 5 infinity stones. This story reveals why plenty of #American's could reject #Hillary #Clinton.

The Trump administration wants access to encrypted messages
Yes #WTF! The #Trump has decided to eliminate the #Right to #Privacy in the #USA. I can see the short-sightedness of his base of support being in favor of this because they think if it happens they will be in power forever.

That wikipedia page has some #HolyFuck content in it.

Also, I wondered about Signal. I have no contacts that want to go encrypted, but the SIgnal Server has all the keys, right?

The best secure communicator I have seen is Briar, but they have no iOS support yet. I don't know, but doubt they will have a PureOS app for the Librem devices.

State v. Keith Davis, Jr. – Episode 11 - Reasonable Doubt
This episode of Undisclosed reveals amazing #Corruption in the #UnitedStates #Justice #System. The #Baltimore PD plant evidence, defraud forensic evidence and lie in open court about the fraudulent evidence. To harken back to the O. J. Simpson trial, I knew he was guilty but was happy with the verdict because the evidence they had was insufficient to convict within a healthy justice system.

In this episode of the #Undisclosed #Podcast, you'll see that the police don't need evidence to convict poor people.

Earth's sacrifice zones: the parts we can't save
An amazing but tragically terrible story on #ClimateChange from The Signal - ABC News (Australia). Do you live in an "expendable" place? Are you disenfranchised by the government that claims dominion over you and your land? If so, you are Royally-fucked. #HeatWave

Wow, WTF! America's got a deep walk-in skeleton closet.
