China and US about to outline agreement to end trade war

As officials hold high level talks on Thursday and Friday in Washington, they remain far apart on demands made by U.S. President Donald Drumpf's administration for structural changes to China's economy.

Negotiators are drawing up six memorandums of understanding on structural issues: forced technology transfer and cyber theft, intellectual property rights, services, currency, agriculture and non-tariff barriers to trade, according to two sources familiar with the progress of the talks.

One source cautioned that the talks could still end in failure. But the work on the MOUs was a significant step in getting China to sign up both to broad principles and to specific commitments on key issues, he said.

Assange hatte immer Recht mit seiner Aussage die USA wollte ihn langfristig weg sperren. Durch, Snowden und viele andere wissen wir überhaupt erst über die Machenschaften der Geheimdienste. Disaster aid bill caught in stalemate after GOP lawmaker demands unanimous consent request

“The people, particularly in Texas, but people generally, are tired of the swamp and this is a very swampy thing to do — have a vote on a Friday heading into Memorial Day weekend and after we recess, when we could have done our job yesterday when we had 435 members of Congress who should be here and should vote,” Roy said.
Ugh...
Because the House is in a pro forma session, the only option for quick passage was to obtain the unanimous consent of all House members. That didn’t happen.

Once signed, the disaster aid bill would provide billions of dollars to help Puerto Rico continue to recover from two deadly 2017 hurricanes as well as funding to help states and territories rebuild after a series of destructive storms and wildfires in 2018 and the first few months of 2019.

Trump pays soy bean farmers $16bn amid trade war tensions

U.S. Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue said that the first of three payments is likely to be made in July or August and suggested that the U.S. and China were unlikely to have settled their differences by then.

William Reinsch, a trade analyst at the Center for Strategic and International Studies and a former U.S. trade official, called the administration’s aid package for farmers “a fairly overt political ploy.”
Makes sense. First, you restrict trade for those who will always be hit hardest by such some political gameplay in which nothing is to be won by either side, and then, you bail the victims out as if you did them a favour, while you know you are the offender in the whole play. When will he ever learn that he can't win this war? The US have ceased to win wars since Vietnam and Korea.
Economists at the New York Federal Reserve, meanwhile, estimated the latest round of tariff hikes will cost the typical U.S. household $831 a year.

Another Guatemalan migrant child dies in US custody

“The immigration agency lacks protocols for tending to migrant populations, and especially for populations presenting some type of illness,” said Jorge Andrade of the independent nonprofit Institute for Democracy and Safety, which monitors the detention of migrants in Mexico.

Architects and engineers seemingly confused about Trump's border wall plans

According to The Washington Post, among the changes Drumpf has ordered are that the metal bollards be painted a particular hue of black that absorbs heat to make them too hot to climb; the tips should be pointed to cause injury; and there should be fewer and smaller gates.

“But building high-rises in New York City is not the same as putting up a barrier at the border,” Lapan, now at the Bipartisan Policy Center in Washington, told the publication. “You’re not looking for aesthetics; you’re looking for functionality.”
But aesthetics are the only thing in building and construction in general, and not even there, he excels with brilliance or actual knowledge, regarding the interior of his Penthouse suits in Trump towers. You know, the lavish, golden design that makes you vomit.
“If you want to climb that, it's pretty sharp up on top, too," said the president, according to CNN. "If you want to climb t

Rashida Tlaib (D - MI) makes equivocal statement about Palestine's role in Holocaust

"There’s always kind of a calming feeling when I think of the tragedy of the Holocaust, that it was my ancestors – Palestinians – who lost their land and some lost their lives, their livelihood, their human dignity and their existence, in many ways, has been wiped out… in the name of trying to create a safe haven for Jews, post-Holocaust, post-tragedy and the horrific persecution of Jews across the world at that time. And I love the fact that it was my ancestors that provided that in many ways,” Tlaib said.

When asked about the two-state solution, Tlaib criticized Netanyahu and said she does not believe a two-state solution is currently possible because Netanyahu's doctrine prevents it. She added that the only way for a two-state solution to be possible today would be if Netanyahu "gets up tomorrow morning and decides: ‘I’m going to take down the walls, I’m not going to expand settlements, enough is enough.'"

No, man, it ain't funny to joke about shooting migrants

Gonzalez (allegedly) begged to differ. “Why are we just apprehending them and not lining them up and shooting them,” he asked Brant, according to the police report. “We have to go back to Hitler days and put them all in a gas chamber.
Holy...!
Around the same time, Trump advised the troops that he had dispatched to the border to meet any rock throwing from migrants with gunfire. “They want to throw rocks at our military, our military fights back,” Trump told reporters. “I told them to consider it a rifle. When they throw rocks like what they did to the Mexican military and police I say consider it a rifle.” His administration then formally authorized troops to use lethal force against migrants if necessary.

On Thursday morning, Trump’s decision to laugh off the suggestion that the only way to stop asylum seekers is to shoot them — at a time when militias are routinely detaining migrants at gunpoint

Kellyanne "Alternative Facts" Conway upset about Hillary Clinton's comments

“She lost that election fairly and squarely, and when she says that election was stolen from her to hoots and hollers from the audience, she’s playing a dangerous game,” Conway said. “Here she is two and half years later, literally will not accept the election results because she lost.”
And although Ms. Clinton has lost, the Senate, which is mainly occupied by Republicans, can't get off her emails, although Trump commits much higher fleonies. So, why bother about a comment she has made, not intending to let anything follow up beside this? Doesn't she have anything else to do in her WH job, combatting actual facts?
“You can run the best campaign, you can even become the nominee, and you can have the election stolen from you,” Clinton said Saturday, noting that she worries that Russia will once again meddle in the upcoming 2020 presidential election.

Trump pardons Army Ranger convicted for murdering Iraqi civilian

Because, why not? I mean, it's just a civilian, that's what we call a collateral damage. War is like this, so why should we sentence those murders? What should they have done? It could have happened to them as well if the civilian was only a civilian in disguise, immediately exploding him- or herself, and so, this soldier would've died instead. So, you'd better murder the civilian before the civilian murders you, right? This is how it goes, war always causes innocent deaths, we cannot prevent it.
(This was meant to be sarcasm, though. You cannot pardon murderers just because they wear a uniform. But what do you expect from the man who grants a golf player the highest decoration of your country, because he is befriended with you? He's a narcissist who digs upon the support of the simple-minded.)
White House press secretary Sarah Sanders wrote in a statement that upon his release from jail in 2014, "Dozens of Patriot Guard motorcycle riders met Mr. Behenna to escort him back to his home i

DHS soon to begin examining migrants' DNA to investigate probable family relationships

DHS has repeatedly warned that children are being exploited by traffickers to skirt the nation’s immigration laws. Currently, the government can’t hold migrant children in detention for more than 20 days, often leading to the release of families — or groups posing as families — until their immigration court hearing, a practice President Donald Drumpf has derided as “catch and release.”

US send out naval ships in order to defend their ally in the Middle East

"In response to a number of troubling and escalatory indications and warnings, the United States is deploying the USS Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group and a bomber task force to the US Central Command region," Mr. Bolton said in a statement.

"The United States is not seeking war with the Iranian regime, but we are fully prepared to respond to any attack, whether by proxy, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, or regular Iranian forces."
You brandmarked the IRGC a terrorist organisation, how aren't you about to march forward to war against Iran? This is typical warmongering at its finest, to deny it, on the other hand, is like calling your enemy dumb.
The statement did not specifically state why the deployment is taking place now, but it comes during a deadly escalation between Gaza-based Palestinian militants and Israel in which the two sides have traded a barrage of rocket fire and air strikes in recent days.

Third migrant child dies in US custody

He was detained on April 19 by agents at the southern border, Guatemala’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said. One day later, he was sent to a government-contracted youth shelter in Brownsville, Texas, to begin a process of family reunification, according to the ministry.

The following morning, employees noticed that the teen was sick with “fever, chills and a headache,” Stauffer said. They took him to a nearby hospital where he received treatment. He then returned to the shelter.

Describing the boy’s medical condition, the Guatemalan Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the boy had “a severe infection in the frontal lobe that showed no improvement, even after a surgical intervention to stabilize the pressure inside the head area.”

NYT cartoonist seems to have further issues, blames Jewish propaganda machine for criticism

The calls of anti-Semitism were “made through the Jewish propaganda machine, which is, anytime there’s criticism it’s because there’s someone anti-Semitic on the other side, and that’s not the case,” Antunes told CNN.

He blamed right-wing figures saying: “The Jewish right doesn’t want to be criticized, and therefore, when criticized they say ‘We are a persecuted people, we suffered a lot… this is anti-Semitism.'”

However, the paper also apologized “to members of the Jewish community and those who may have felt offended,” saying “it was never intended to portray Israel or the Jewish religion and its believers in a less dignified manner.”

Democracy is dissatisfying many people around the world

Across 27 countries polled, a median of 51% are dissatisfied with how democracy is working in their country; just 45% are satisfied.
Ouch. This is a tremendous decline in their belief in democracy. What is to make out of this, beside the fact that democracy is comparably impotent when it comes to persuading people about its advantageous role model in terms of equal opportunities. I guess that people like Pete Buttigieg are right when they say that capitalism is ardently undermining the core values of our democracy, namely equal opportunities, a peaceful contribution of resources for everyone on behalf of the market, and a blooming future for descending generations thanks to mutually social participation of everyone towards it.
Most believe elections bring little change, that politicians are corrupt and out of touch and that courts do not treat people fairly. On the other hand, people are more positive about how well their countries protect free expression, provide economic

Backlash after Ilhan Omar-9/11 reference grows

The video Drumpf retweeted on Friday pulls a snippet of Omar's recent speech to the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) in which she described the 2001 attack on New York's World Trade Center as "some people did something" and includes news footage of the hijacked planes hitting the Twin Towers.
Remember: This is like sending Trump death threats after he failed to fully punish the attacker at the Unite The Right rallye. It didn't happen. Why? Because left-wingers follow by a codex of minimum decency. The right fails to grow this certain amount of decency. Therefore, Ms. Omar's life is threatened by now.
The Muslim politician also tweeted a quote from former President George W Bush, who said days after the attacks: "The people - and the people who knocked these buildings down will hear all of us soon!"
"Was Bush downplaying the terrorist attack?" Omar tweeted. "What if he was a Muslim."

Private security company Blackwater to send 5,000 troops to Venezuela to topple Maduro government

Over the last several months, the sources said, Prince has sought investment and political support for such an operation from influential Drumpf supporters and wealthy Venezuelan exiles. In private meetings in the United States and Europe, Prince sketched out a plan to field up to 5,000 soldiers-for-hire on behalf of Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaido, according to two sources with direct knowledge of Prince’s pitch.
There we have it: The war of privately traded soldiers. Capitalism arise!
A Venezuelan exile close to the opposition agreed but said private contractors might prove useful, in the event Maduro’s government collapses, by providing security for a new administration in the aftermath.
Shouldn't war be a thing commenced and led by governments rather than private companies who only follow their own despicable intentions?
One of Prince’s key arguments, one source said, is

Women playing sports with men a «travesty», according to Fed pick Stephen Moore

Stephen Moore, an economic commentator and former Drumpf campaign adviser, made those and similar comments in several columns reviewed by CNN's KFile that were published on the website of the conservative National Review magazine in 2001, twice in 2002 and 2003.
I wonder why he feels a need to take vacations from women. I would rather see a point when women had to take a vacation from Stephen Moore, but these are only my two cents. At least I don't see a problem in there when women participated in announcements, refereeing or beer vending at Basketball games. Also, this is none of his business, so why did he feel a need to comment on this at all? Couldn't he stick it to himself? There was no need to hear his opinion on this.
In a 2000 column, Moore complained about his wife voting for Democrats, writing, "Women are sooo malleable! No wonder there's a gender gap." In another column in 2000, Moore criticized female athletes advocating for p

Anti-immigrant leader milita of militia arrested

Hector Balderas, New Mexico’s attorney general, said federal agents had arrested the leader, Larry Mitchell Hopkins, who had been operating under the alias Johnny Horton Jr. Mr Balderas said in a statement that Hopkins was arrested on charges of firearms possession by a felon.

The firearms charge against Hopkins is relatively minor. But it is likely the start of a deeper investigation into his activities and those of the militia, and opens the way for the authorities to bring more serious charges like kidnapping and impersonating a police officer or an employee of the United States.

Political leaders in New Mexico, a state largely controlled by Democrats, responded with fury. Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham said that any mistreatment of asylum-seekers on the border was “unacceptable.” The state’s two Democratic senators, Tom Udall and Martin Heinrich, said in a statement that the actions of vigilante groups “cannot be tolerated.”

There are people

(I already thought that we had this debate about Nazis being actually left-wingers because it is called National Socialists. Even German poltiicians who, by their age (speaking of age and senilitiy), become more and more demented, made the same claim about this determining predicate in the end. It's socialism, but with a very nationalist scent. Just saying: There's nothing socialist about deporting people for relating to an ethnic, religious or whatever minority and murdering them like vermits. This is racist, discriminating, a crima against humanity. Something only the wrost scum in the world is capable of doing without having a very bad conscience about. Now, the Socialists are nothing like this, they are empathic and objected to reaching the best for all of the poeple (excluding fascists). How would murdering almost half of them accomplish this goal? The answer: It doesn't. Period.)
Barr’s bombshell announcement led to Brooks’ outburst, which in turn led to discussion about whether socialists are Nazis because they both u
